Existing Programs Why No One Can Find Them
Looking for a STEM based program can sometimes take hours to find. It always seems that there are many programs avalible, but in reality, they are not accessible to everyone. Almost all programs are based up north or downrown, which causes a transportation barrier. Trying to find opportunities in your own neighborhood, if you are in a low income community, it is nearly impossibe since there are none located. With programs solely offered to affluent neighborhoods, it makes sense that there are less minorities in STEM careers. While there isnt equality in education, the turnout refelcts the issue of lack of access in low income neighborhoods. Most STEM programs traget teens who are able to afford camp, transportation, and teens who have been exposed to other STEM programs.
