YMCA

"The Y makes accessible the support and opportunities that empower people and communities to learn, grow and thrive. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the nation's health and well-being and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors.

There is no other nonprofit quite like the Y. That's because, in neighborhoods across Chicagoland, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change.

  • The Y is community centered. For more than 150 years, we've been listening and responding to our communities.
  • The Y brings people together. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.
  • The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
  • The Y mobilizes local communities to effect lasting, meaningful change."

Youth M.O.V.E. National

"Youth M.O.V.E. National is a youth driven, chapter-based organization that is dedicated to improving services and systems that support positive growth and development by uniting the voices of individuals who have lived experience in various systems including mental health, juvenile justice, education, and child welfare.

The organization believes in the importance of recognizing life transitions. That is why its “generation next” program trains young people involved with systems to share their stories at different stages in their lives, whether they currently serve as advocates themselves, advocate on behalf of other youth, or now play the role of supportive adults."

Y.O.U.

"We engage every young person and identify their strengths and stressors. Our youth workers develop deep relationships with youth, their parents, and their teachers. Based on these personal relationships, as well as on standardized assessments, we develop tailored plans to help youth realize their full potential.

We support youth and their families with a holistic set of resources to encourage their strengths and address their stressors. We provide after -school programming, mentorship, clinical services, crisis intervention, and a range of other services to meet the individualized needs of our youth and families.

We sustain youth success by working with parents and community leaders. We hold regular family nights and workshops to support parents and community leaders in promoting positive youth development in the home and in the neighborhood. We are thrilled to report that more than two-thirds of parents annually participate in our programs."

America's Promise Alliance

"The collective work of our Alliance focuses on the five promises we must make and keep to young people to set them up for adult success. These promises, which emerged from the 1997 Presidents’ Summit, serve as America’s Promise Alliance’s north star and the organizing framework for the effort of hundreds of communities across the country.

Every young person needs:

  • Caring Adults- parents and family members, teachers, mentors, coaches and others who believe in, challenge and nurture young people.
  • Safe Places- spaces at home, in school, in the community and online where youth feel safe and have opportunities to learn, explore and grow.
  • Opportunities to Serve- to share time and talents with others, build character and competence, and contribute to the civic life of their community.
  • Effetive Education- to develop knowledge and real-world skills so they can fully participate in our economy and our democracy.
  • A Healthy Start- the right nutrition, exercise and medical care starting with children's first years so they can thrive in school and in life."
