It is important to address the issue of rising levels of plastic waste since it has harmful consequences:
Recycling the Usual Way can be Harmful
One might turn to doing the conventional approach to recycling by putting plastic materials into the recycle bin. However, that is not the best decision:
- It can harm workers and communities. Most recycled plastic goes to manufacturing companies that melt the plastic which releases harmful toxins or VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that can lead to health problems and other issues.
- It contributes to global warming because when they are melted by plastic manufacturing companies, they also release greenhouse gases that degenerate the ozone layer.
There is a Solution
GoodWaste solves this problem of plastic in the following ways:
- We don't melt plastic to make our products
- We encourage people to not waste plastic and instead donate it to make useful products
- We donate to charities that aim to help the environment and the community whenever a member buys a plastic item from GoodWill or donates plastic
- We give people the opportunity to help the environment hands on by converting plastic into items while getting paid

Why did I start GoodWaste?
I always saw plastic being wasted by being improperly disposed and not being recognized for its many uses. In addition, I wanted to improve the environment so I combined all of my concerns into GoodWaste.
